When is deadline day?

Deadline day begins on September 1, 2022, and finishes at 11 PM BST for UK and most major leagues across Europe. Of course, beyond these leagues, the time of closure varies.

(11.30 PM): Marcos Alonso joins Barcelona

Former Chelsea fullback Marcos Alonso has all but been confirmed as a Barcelona player. The Spaniard and Chelsea decided on a contract termination to be signed for Alonso to join the Catalans. As per multiple reports, the official announcement will be followed the next morning.



(11.25 PM): Leeds’ make last-ditch attempt

Leeds United made a late attempt to try and sign Blackburn and Chile forward Ben Brereton Diaz. Although, the Peacocks were put off by the 25m euros valuation.

With Diaz not interested in discussing fresh terms, Blackburn Rovers will lose the Chilean for free next summer.



(11.03 PM): Hector Bellerin’s homecoming

Hector Bellerin has signed a one-year deal with Barcelona that sees him returning to the club he came through at. Bellerin spent the last season on loan at Real Betis and had just one year remaining on his contract. He terminated the remaining year of his contract with Arsenal through mutual consent.

(11.00 PM): The deadline day is over

And breathe!

The summer 2022 transfer window is yet another one of those historic windows that’ll go down in folklore. From Bamba Dieng’s late medical drama to Barcelona’s “secret signing”, this window had it all.

With that, the deadline day has passed, with any pending deals, will only be able to go through in the next window. Only the deals which have been completed can be announced now.



(11.00 PM): Valencia sign Justin Kluivert on loan

Spanish club Valencia completed the loan signing of AS Roma forward Justin Kluivert. According to Fabrizio Romano, Kluivert had agreed to the move and flown to Valencia for the medical. Before that, Roma had extended Kluivert’s contract till 2025. Valencia have a buy option worth €15 million once the loan deal ends.



(10.58 PM):Andre Gomes joins Lille 

The Everton midfielder will join the Ligue 1 club on a season-long loan.



(10.56 PM): Daniel James passes medical at Fulham 

The club is expected to announce the deal after the closing of transfer window but have completed all the necessary paperworks.



(10.54 PM):Fulham sign Carlos Vinicius from Benfica

The striker joins the Premier League side for a fee of € 5 million. He had spent the previous season at loan to PSV.



(10.50 PM): Marseille sign Amine Harit from Schalke 

The attacking midfielder will join the Ligue 1 club on a season-long loan with the buy option available. The medical was completed hours before the end of transfer window.



(10.47PM):Valladolid sign Kenedy from Chelsea

Spnaish outfit sign Brazilain winger in the last hours of the transfer window.



(10.31PM): Crazy story has crazy ending – Bamba Dieng

In perhaps the craziest story of this summer transfer window, Bamba Dieng has failed his medical at OGC Nice. This happened after the player had rejected a deal from Leeds at the last moment. At one time, Dieng was at a private jet terminal in France with an aircraft on standby. The Senegalese was in line to fly to England to get his medicals done with Leeds, only to have a change of heart in the last moments.



(10.22 PM): James Garner is a Toffee 

Manchester United academy graduate James Garner has signed a permanent deal with Everton. The deal is worth £15 million plus add-ons and will run till 2027. United have also inserted a buyback clause for the Englishman.

(10.09 PM): Depay confirms he stays at Barca

Barcelona forward and Dutch international Memphis Depay has confirmed through his twitter account that he will not be leaving the Catalan club in the closing hours of transfer deadline day.

The former Manchester United player also stated that he is fully committed to Barcelona’s sporting vision and will fight for his place in Xavi’s team.



(10.03 PM): Klopp gets midfield reinforcements

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool finally have landed a player for a much needed position in the team. Arthur Melo has joined on a season-long loan from Juventus for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign. Juventus have also stated that Liverpool have the option of making the deal permanent next season at a fee of around €37.5 million.

The Reds have been struggling in midfield after injuries to several key players. Arthur will add much-needed steel and depth to a broken midfield.



(09.44 PM): Third time’s the charm?

Arsenal have seen a third bid rejected for their deadline day target Douglas Luiz. Their latest proposal is said to have been worth more than 25m euros, although Steven Gerrard wants the Brazilian to stay, amid Aston Villa’s struggles this season.



(09.26 PM): Someone seriously stop Nottingham 

The club are showing no signs of slowing down and has agreed to sign Serge Aurier, their 23rd transfer window signing. Aurier was a free agent since his contract with Villareal expired. The club are now waiting for a visa and work permit from the United Kingdom government.



(09.21 PM): Ben Brereton Diaz to stay at Blackburn

Blackburn have rejected Fulham’s second offer for the Chilean. The Championship club had already rejected an offer. However, since the player is only contracted to the club till 2023, Fulham had hoped that an improved offer could soften their stance.



(09.04 AM): Ainsley Maitland-Niles signs for Southampton on loan

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has completed a loan move to Southampton with an option to buy in 2023. Maitland-Niles has extended his contract till 2024 before leaving to protect the transfer value.



(09.02 PM): Denis Zakaria signs contract with Chelsea

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Swiss defensive midfielder has signed his contract with the Blues. Earlier, the club had called off the deal for Ibrahim Sangare.

Zakaria was keen on the move and completed his  medical in Turin with a view to joining on loan for the season. Chelsea have an option to buy for £30m and will cover 100% of his salary.



(08.55PM): Wolves close to signing Boubacar Traore

Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to striking a deal with Metz for midfielder Boubacar Traore. The agreement is for a season-long loan, after which the buy option worth €11 million will be activated.



(08.51PM): Amine Gouri signs for Rennais

OGC Nice striker Amine Gouri has signed for Rennais. He is the fifth signing for the club this season.



(08.45PM): Barcelona extends the contract of Abde Ezzalzouli

The left-winger will stay at the club till 2026 under the new contract. The release clause has been set at €200 million. The winger will has been sent on a season-long loan to Osasuna.



(08.38PM): AC Milan announce Sergino Dest signing 

The right-back will join the Italian club on a permanent deal.Milan have paid €20 million for the defender after chasing him all summer. Dest has been given the number 21 jersey at the club.

(08.20 PM): Depay is the bait for ‘surprise signing’

According to Fabrizio, Depay might make a last-ditch attempt to leave Barcelona. Sources close to the player also suggest this is to accommodate Barcelona’s surprise signing. It is race against time!



(08.03 PM): And Leander Dendoncker is a Villain

Aston Villa have officially announced on the club’s website that Belgian international Dendoncker has joined Steven Gerrard’s outfit on a permanent basis. The fee for the deal is sai to be around 15m euros. This deal might also pave the way for Douglas Luiz’s move to Arsenal who are going through a midfield crisis of their own.



(07.48 PM): Harvey Vale joins Chelsea’s loan army

In other news, Chelsea academy graduate and attacker Harvey Vale will join Hull CIty. The Blues and Tigers have reached an agreement to send the attacking midfielder on loan for the rest of the season.

Also, England youth international will sign a 4-year contract extension before leaving on loan. It is also said that Hull City was Vale’s preferred destination from the beginning.



(07.40 PM): Barcelona and Laporta planning a heist

According to multiple reports, Barcelona will launch an audacious bid for a ‘surprise signing’ who is also said to be a big name player. Reports also suggest the player is none of Marco Verratti, Bernardo Silva or Nabil Fekir. Crucial hours ahead for Barcelona and it’s fans.



(07.29 PM): Saints move on from Lacroix

Southampton are signing CB Duja Caleta Car from Marseille on a permanent deal after failing to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg for Lacroix. Saints signed Bella-Kotchap this summer for their CB spot who has been a great success so far. Will Caleta Car be another hidden gem?



(07.22 PM): Ronaldo in Turkey?!

In what would be the biggest deadline day move by quite some margin, Turkish outlet Ajansspor is reporting that Turkish side Fenerbahce have agreed to a deal with Manchester United for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the move remains unlikely to happen as Fenerbahce don’t play in the UCL either, one of Ronaldo’s key demands in any prospective move.



(07.14 PM): Nottingham Forest’s transfer madness continues!

And then there were 22! Nottingham Forest have swooped in late for Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker is becoming Forest’s 22nd signing as Steve Cooper’s men seek to establish themselves in the Premier League. A window with 2 new squads worth of players- will the gamble work?



(07.00 PM): There’s no stopping Barcelona!

After reaching deal to sell Aubameyang, getting Alonso and putting in an ambitious bid for Bernardo Silva, Manu Sainz of Diario reports Real Betis’ key played, Nabil Fekir, is currently in Barcelona’s offices to finalise a transfer!

Fekir was close to Liverpool a few years ago before a knee injury derailed it. Redemption to Barcelona would be some story!



(06.26 PM): Barcelona want Bernardo Silva 

According to Pedro Almeida, the Catalan club has tabled a bid worth €70m with €10m add-ons. Xavi has made no secret of how much he admires the player. However, City have made it clear they are not open to selling the player no matter the price. Barcelona are currently awaiting a response to their offer.



(06.20 PM): Benfica sign Julian Draxler from PSG on loan

Portuguese outfit Benfica have signed Paris Saint Germain attacker Draxler on a season-long loan. There is no option to buy. The German could fill the void left by Darwin Nunez, who signed for Liverpool.

(06.12 PM): Ethan Ampadu joins Spezia on loan  

The Chelsea defender will join Serie A outfit for a season-long loan. There is no buy option available for the Italian club.



(06.02 PM):Barcelona fails for once 

Barcelona have failed to sign FC Sabadell’s Sergi Altimira. The central midfielder was also on Gerard Pique’s Andorra FC radar. However, Sabadell are reluctant to sell him. Altimira’s contract expires in 12 months.



(05.35 PM): Dubravka is a Red Devil

Manchester United have officially announced the signing of the Slovak international Martin Dubravka. The 33-year-old will join the Old Trafford outfit on an initial season-long loan with an option to buy. The loan fee is € 2.3 million, with the opportunity to purchase worth € 6.9 million.



(05.17 PM): Ilaix Moriba leaves RB Lepzig

Former Barcelona player and La Masia graduate has departed German club, RB Leipzig after the player wished for regular game time. Moriba has since joined Valencia on a straight season-long loan with no buy option.

(05.10 PM): Willian is back in the Premier League!

Former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian is back in the Premier League with Fulham. The former Brazilian international has signed a one-year deal with the Craven Cottage outfit with an option to extend for another year.

Willian reportedly wasn’t happy in Brazil while playing for Corinthians and got his contract mutually terminated with immediate effect.



(04.58 PM): Gilmour joins Brighton on permanenet deal

Hours before, the Chelsea owners had decided that Gilmour would not leave The Blues on a permanent transfer. This was due to their mixed results in the Premier League. However, in a remarkable turnaround, the club has allowed the talented youngster to leave on a permanent deal.



(04.53 PM):  Milan Skriniar stays 

Inter Milan announced that their transfer window is complete. The club will neither sign nor sell any player. This means their star defender Skriniar will stay at the club, which will significantly boost their Serie A title bid.



(04.50 PM):   Everton announces Idrissa Gueye signing 

Midfielder Idrissa Gueye has rejoined Everton from PSG three years after leaving the club. Gueye had a tough time at PSG and with the youthful signings of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler, was deemed expendable by the PSG hierarchy. Gueye has signed on a two-year deal till 2024.

Everton are looking to further strengthen the midfield by adding James Garner.



(04.46 PM) Ibrahim Sangare deal is off 

Chelsea were reportedly in the running to sign the defensive midfielder from PSV. However, there is a considerable difference between the valuation of both clubs. PSV had earlier also refused to sell Cody Gakpo. Chelsea is still in the race to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax.



(04.42 PM) Fulham announce Laywin Kurzawa on loan from PSG 

The left-back joins Marco Silva’s men on a season-long loan from PSG. The defender has spent seven years at Parc des Princes and will bring much-needed quality in an area where Fulham lack quality.



(04.36 PM) Mario Balotelli joins Swiss club FC Sion 

The Italian striker last played for Turkish club Adana Demirspor in the 2021-22 season. Sion is his fifth club since leaving Nice in 2019.



(04.30 PM) Nottingham Forest complete 21st signing 

The signings do not stop at Nottingham, who have just signed defender Loic Bade, their 21st signing of the season. Bade joins from Ligue 1 club Rennes on a season-long loan with a buy option worth € 13.9 million available at the end of the season. However, Nottingham are said to be still in the market for more players.



(04.24 PM) Frenkie de Jong stays 

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch midfielder will stay at the Catalan club. De Jong’s agent met representatives from Barcelona to discuss a new contract which will lower his salary.

(04.14 PM) Ajax announce Florian Grillitsch signing 

The Dutch club has signed Florian Grillitsch on a free transfer. The Austrian has been without a club since his contract at Hoffenheim expired last season’s end. Grillitsch signing is Ajax’s backup plan if Edson Alvarez leaves for Chelsea.



(4.07 PM): Aster Vranckx signs for AC Milan on loan 

The Belgian midfielder will join the Italian giants on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg. Milan will also have the buy option available at the end of the season. The two clubs had already agreed to the deal, but it got over the line after the player’s consent a few hours back.



(3.57 PM): Juventus officially announce Leandro Paredes

The midfielder has joined the Old Lady on loan from PSG with the option to buy at the end of the season. The fee agreed is € 15 million plus €5 million add-ons. The Brazilian has flown to Turin for his medical.



(3.49 PM): Nottingham Forest close to completing their 20th transfer

Blackpool winger Josh Bowler is close to joining Steve Cooper’s team for € 6-7 million. Bowler will be their 20th signing in an incredible transfer window. The club is still expected to add more signings before the window closes. However, the player will not be a part of Cooper’s squad as he will join Olympiacos on loan.

Martin Braithwaite is moving to Barcelona’s traditional rivals Espanyol after he reached a mutual agreement with Barcelona to terminate his contract. Braithwaite was signed as an emergency exception by Barcelona but the new regime had been asking him to leave for a while. He signs a three-year contract with Espanyol.



(2.15 PM) Hull City sign Adama Traore 

No, not that one. The midfielder will join Hull on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year extension. Traore last played for Turkish club Hatayspor who did not extend his contract at the ned of last season.



(02.07 PM) Chelsea sign Dinamo Moscow’s Arsen Zakharyan

(01.39 PM) Southampton in talks to sign Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg

The defender has been an integral part of Wolfsburg’s defence. The deal is complicated, but Lacroix is keen on the move as he wants to play in the Premier League. Talks are ongoing between both clubs.



(01.34 PM) Julian Weigl close to Borussia Monchengladbach loan move 

The German club has agreed on a loan with Portuguese outfit Benfica. Weigl has completed his medical ahead of the move. According to Sky Sports, Monchengladbach will have the option to make the deal permanent after the one-year loan deal is over.



(01.26 PM) Nottingham Forest announce the signing of Willy Boly 

The defender joins on a two-year deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is a part of Nottingham’s enormous spending as they look to maintain their Premier League status. Nottingham have paid € 2.3 million for the Ivorian who played for five years at Molineux.



(01.11 PM) Fulham close to completing Daniel James deal

Marco Silva is all set to add winger Daniel James to his squad. The Welsh player will join the Cottagers on loan from Leeds United. The clubs are working on finalising the deal in the following hours. 



(12.46 PM): Inter get some strength in depth

Serie A champions have got Francesco Acerbi on loan from Lazio. The loan deal also includes a buy option for Inter Milan depending on the number of appearances made. It is also important to note that this deal has nothing to do with the one where Milan Skriniar was linked to PSG. (12.35 PM): Another United graduate to Birmingham

Tahith Chong has officially completed a move to Birmingham City. The former Manchester United graduate becomes the second Red Devil to join the Championship club following Hannibal Mejbri‘s move to Birmingham.

(12.30 PM): Leeds get on the transfer train

Leeds United’s bid for Bamba Dieng has been accepted and given the green light by Olympic Marseille. The transfer for the Senegalese forward will cost The Peacocks around 10m euros, with add-ons included. Leeds’ first choice was Hwang from Wolves, although Bruno Lage had no intention of letting the forward leave.

Leicester City are close to finishing their FIRST signing of the transfer window. The Foxes have agreed to a deal with Reims for the transfer of CB Wout Faes. The signing of Faes is expected to be completed now that the Wesley Fofana transfer is in the rearview mirror. (10.39 AM): The raid of Ajax doesn’t stop

Chelsea are reported to have bid £50 million for Ajax’s defensive midfielder/defender Edson Alvarez. Ajax are in the middle of a rebuild after selling multiple players this season so could be reluctant to entertain offers for Alvarez. PSG are adding another jewel to their Luis Campos-led revolution with the signing of Carlos Soler from Valencia. The versatile midfielder/winger is set to join the Parisiens on a contract till 2027. (10:06AM): Manchester City complete the signing of Manuel Akanji 

Manchester City have added defender Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year-deal. City paid €17.5 million for the transfer. The 27-year-old centre-back will further bolster an already impressive City backline.

Akanji is the City’s second signing from Borussia Dortmund after Erling Haaland.



(9:59 AM): Chelsea send Dujon Sterling on loan to Stoke City 

Chelsea have sent youth team player Dujon Sterling to Stoke City on loan. The right-back is expected to have his medical in the next hours. It will be a season-long loan with no option to buy.

(9:41 AM): Manchester United officially announce Antony 

Manchester United unveiled their newest signing Antony today. The Brazilian was signed on a € 100 million deal making him the club’s second most expensive signing ever. Antony has blossomed into one of the best attackers under Erik Ten Hag at Ajax.

Speaking at the ceremony Antony said, “My time at Ajax was fantastic and I will always be grateful for the trust they put in me, but now I am ready for the next challenge, and I can’t wait to join my new team-mates and play my part in bringing success to Manchester United.”



(9:30 AM): Liverpool close to signing Arthur Melo from Juventus 

Liverpool are looking to bolster their midfield, with their target being Arthur Melo from Juventus. Gianluca Di Marzio says salary has been agreed upon. There is no option to buy. The medical is scheduled to be held in the next few hours. He will be signed on loan as the clubs are working on the finer details of the agreement. Both clubs are confident of executing the deal.



 

(9:20 AM):Abdou Diallo goes on loan to RB Leipzig from PSG

The 26-year-old defender will be on loan for the season. The €25m buy option clause is not mandatory as agreed with PSG. The defender becomes the fifth signing for Domenico Tedesco this transfer window.

(9:20 AM): Sevilla sign Kasper Dolberg on loan from OGC Nice 

Spanish club Sevilla have signed Danish forward Kasper Dolberg on a season-long loan from OGC Nice. The club have the option to make the move permanent after the loan ends.



 

(7.45 AM): Gakpo going nowhere

David Ornstein reports that PSV have made the final decision to keep Cody Gakpo. Southampton and Leeds United were in the race to sign the forward after Manchester United diverted their attentions elsewhere upon signing Antony.
