Former Juventus star Martin Caceres is being linked with AC Milan after the Rossoneri suffered an injury crisis.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with Premier League side Crystal Palace, but the new developments could see him ply his trade at the San Siro.
Martin Caceres is a free agent ever-since his contract expired with Juventus last June, and it is expected that he could line-up for Milan soon.
Luca Antonelli, Mattia De Sciglio and Davide Calabria are all out with injury – leaving Vincenzo Montella to use Alessandro Romagnoli in an unfamiliar left-back position.
Seeing how his options have been limited, Montella is looking forward to adding the five-time Scudetto winner to his ranks.
“I don’t know a lot about the negotiation with Caceres. He’s fit and could be of great help,” said Montella.
“[Leonel] Vangioni is coming on gradually. He has offensive qualities. He hasn’t played for a while, I’ll have to think carefully. Another option would be Romagnoli at left-back.”
Montella’s isn’t just facing defensive woes, but star striker Carlos Bacca is also struggling to replicate the sensational form he showcased in his debut season at the San Siro.
The Rossoneri boss feels that more needs to be done to make things easy for Bacca – while he also urges Suso and new arrivals Gerard Deulofeu and Lucas Ocampos to start showcasing their talent and worth.
“Bacca is one of the strongest and most important players we have. He’s 30 and at that age it’s unlikely he’ll change the way he plays. We have do adapt to his qualities and make the most of them,” said Montella.
“I expect a lot from the strikers. Suso and Deulofeu have to be more clinical. We are competitive and we have shown it.”
“We signed two great players who will have to improve and finally blossom. Gerard gives his best in tight space, while Ocampos does better with more space available.”
