Chelsea are certainly in need of some new additions to their squad this summer, with a number of players departing the club ahead of the 2023/24 season. A clearout at Stamford Bridge was much-needed, and Mauricio Pochettino is tasked with the rebuild of the Blues as they look to improve on a dismal league campaign last term.
The London-based side finished a disappointing 12th in the top-flight last season, and Pochettino will know that he’ll need a strong start to get the club’s supporters back on the side, as they’ve had to witness some poor performances for too long now. New signings could turn their poor results into strong ones, and one player that they’ve been linked with catches the eye more than most.
That player is Michael Olise, who is currently with Crystal Palace. Olise signed for the Eagles back in 2021, having caught the eye with some impressive displays for Reading, where he scored seven goals and was on hand to provide 12 assists during the 2020/21 season, where the Royals narrowly missed out on a top-six finish.
It’s been reported that Chelsea have submitted a £39m offer for Olise, although there seems to be conflicting reports on whether the 21-year-old has a release clause in his contract.
BonusCodeBets have revealed that Olise is priced at 8/15 on Sky Bet to sign for Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window. Below, they’ve provided the odds for the rest of the clubs that are rumoured to be keen on a deal for the Crystal Palace playmaker.
- Chelsea @ 8/15
- Manchester City @ 8/1
- Liverpool @ 20/1
Odds displayed are correct as of 4:06 pm, Thursday, 27th July 2023. Odds are subject to change.
Olise will certainly feel as though he has unfinished business at Chelsea, having played for their academy during 2009 and 2016 before moving to Manchester City. The Premier League champions are another team that are rumoured to be interested in signing Olise, although it remains to be seen as to whether that interest will result in a formal bid for him.
The 21-year-old has shown real quality in recent months and has adjusted to the demands of Premier League football very well. That strong run of performances saw him earn a call-up to the France Under 21’s team, and Olise will have ambitions of reaching the senior team in the near future as he looks to take his talents to the greatest stage of all. A move to Chelsea could be the ideal move for all parties involved, as Chelsea would be acquiring a player with age on his side and real quality to bring to Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
