Manchester United and AC Milan target Andrea Belotti wants to stay put at Torino and can snub moves to any other club even if they are willing to match his €100m release clause, according to club president Urbano Cairo.
Torino striker Belotti has drawn huge attention after proving his mettle last season, with 26 goals to his name – and is wanted by top flight European clubs this summer.
AC Milan and Manchester United are in pole position to rope him in, while he has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea.
Belotti’s current contract with Torino includes a €100million release clause for foreign clubs, but club president Cairo accentuated this week that he will do everything possible to tie down his star player.
And later he insisted that Belotti himself is keen on staying put at the Serie A club and he believes that his star striker could turn down a tempting offer even if a club triggers his release clause.
Cairo said: “I care about Belotti and I’m keeping hold of him.”
“He has a contract with Toro until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m, but even then he can refuse.”
“The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I believe he wants to stay.”
“We are trying to build the best possible team at Toro. Belotti is busy on international duty at the moment and then he is getting married on Thursday – he invited me.”
Belotti is on international duty and scored an incredible goal and put up an assist as France thrashed Liechtenstein 5-0.
And now FootTheBall sources claim that Manchester United bosses are all set to launch a tempting £71million offer to lure him away to Old Trafford this summer.
Some believe that he might stay put while others believe that he could opt to make a switch to Manchester United in a bid to play in the Champions League in the upcoming season.
