Manchester United’s goal-keeper, Victor Valdes, is up for auction as club manager Louis van Gaal confirmed reports on the letting go of the goalie over failure to play in an Under-21 game last season.
The rumour mill was churning as Valdes, who had signed an 18-month deal with the Red Devils, was left out of the pre-season tour of the United States.
On the sidelines of Di Maria’s revelations of signing up with French side PSG, the Dutch coach said that Valdes was not following his principle and philosophy.
Van Gaal revealed Valdes, who left Barcelona last summer and has been linked with a move to Valencia, refused to play in an Under-21 game last season, an incident which is now set to lead to his departure.
Van Gaal said, “He is not selected because he doesn’t follow our philosophy and there is no place for someone like that.
“For us it is a big disappointment because we thought that he will follow our philosophy. It’s a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate and gave him a contract”, he said at the press conference.
Going by his Twitter account, Valdes is yet to get an update!
