Diego Costa’s antics in the match against Arsenal on Saturday didn’t go down too well with the Football Association. Costa will face a three-match ban and has been charged with violent conduct for involvement in a tussle with Laurent Koscielny during Saturday’s derby win against Arsenal.
FA officials went through referee Mike Dean’s match report on the incident towards the fag end of the first half in Saturday’s derby match.
The Football Association made it clear that a team of of former referees examined the match video and unanimously announced that the striker should be charged.
The match footage showed that the Spanish forward clawed at Koscielny’s face as they battled to win possession.
Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel, has been charged with misconduct for his behaviour on the field after he was sent off. Playmaker Cazorla has been warned for his conduct following his sending off. Both the clubs have been charged for failing to control their players.
Sources confirm that the deadline set for Costa to respond to the decision taken by FA is 6pm on Tuesday while Gabriel and both the clubs have time till Thursday to have their say on the incident.
