Paris Saint-Germain have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, according to reports.
Barcelona were desperate to sign Coutinho over the summer but despite repeated attempts the La Liga giants failed to convince the Reds to sell their most prized asset.
The Brazilian had handed in an official transfer request but Liverpool turned down Barcelona’s three back-to-back bids for Coutinho and he ended up remaining at Anfield and has now displayed good form for the Premier League club.
Barcelona are still keen on roping in the Brazilian with Coutinho desperate to join Lionel Messi and Co. at the Nou Camp.
Liverpool bosses have promised Philippe Coutinho he will be allowed to make his dream switch to Barcelona in January if the La Liga club make a good offer, according to reports.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Liverpool bosses are finally ready to sell Coutinho next summer but they want an astronomical transfer fee for their most prized asset.
But Spanish publication Diario Gol claims that Andres Iniesta and Ivan Rakitic have made it clear to Barcelona they don’t need to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
Meanwhile, reports in France have claimed that PSG have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Liverpool’s most prized asset.
Spanish newspaper Sport had claimed that Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian held talks with with PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards in London on Monday.
PSG are monitoring the availability of the Brazilian star and have reportedly asked his agent to inform them about offers coming from Barcelona.
Barcelona are set to offer a staggering £106 million for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho in January, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Barcelona are desperate to sign the highly rated Brazilian playmaker and have already had three previous offers turned down by Liverpool, the last one being £114.5million earlier this summer.
Coutinho’s pal and international team-mate Neymar made a switch to PSG on a world-record move from Barcelona in August to join his other Brazilian friends Marquinhos, Dani Alves and Thiago Silva at the Parc des Princes – with reports claiming that the Liverpool star could now opt to join them next summer.
But there are doubts whether they can match Barcelona’s offer after landing Neymar on a world-record move and securing a loan move for Mbappe, whom they will buy on a £161million deal next summer.
UEFA are monitoring PSG’s transfer business to make sure that they are in line with Financial Fair Play, and this could create problems in their pursuit of Coutinho.
