World’s most expensive signing Neymar enjoyed a dream debut for Paris Saint-Germain as he scored and assisted Cavani’s goal with a brilliant through ball.
While his former club Barcelona suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the first-leg clash of the Spanish Super Cup, the £198million man won hearts with his incredible pace, first-touch, skills and finishing ability at the 18,000-seater Stade de Roudourou against Ligue 1 side Guingamp.
The 25-year-old started on the left behind Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, with former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria on the right.
Early on, he was offered little space to operate and got some rough treatment from Marcus Coco and Jordan Ikoko.
But as soon as he settled in he got his revenge on Ikoko in the 52nd minute – with the Congolese right-back apparently so terrified by Neymar’s marauding presence that forced him to plant the ball past his own keeper from 10 yards.
Neymar then whipped in a wonder through ball to set up Edinson Cavani, who made it 2-0 with a curling effort past the keeper.
And then the 700 away fans burst into celebrations in the stands as Cavani teed up Neymar for a simple tap-in to clincha 3-0 win.
Meanwhile, £160m PSG target Kylian Mbappe watched from the bench as defending Ligue 1 champions Monaco beat Dijon 4-1.
Radamel Falcao displayed incredible form as he hit a hat-trick to make sure that Monaco stayed at par with PSG.
