Naby Keita ‘Wants Liverpool Move Now’ And Could Secure January Transfer

Naby Keita is frustrated with life at RB Leipzig and wants to move to Liverpool during the January transfer window, according to German football expert Lee Price.

Naby Keita wants to move to Liverpool in January

Keita has already agreed a deal to move to Liverpool in the summer but will have to wait until July 2018 to complete his switch to the Premier League.

Manwhile, Lee Price, who has written two books on the Bundesliga, claimed that Keita is now desperate to move to Liverpool once the transfer window opens in January – and is currently trying to change the terms of the deal.

This comes after Leipzig crashed out of the Champions League and went down fifth in the Bundesliga table.

“The Naby Keita transfer saga had appeared to resolve itself – the midfielder was due to move to Liverpool in the summer, and that’s that,” Price told Express Sport.

“But the Guinean himself might have a say in the matter.

“Leipzig’s novelty is wearing off – they’re fifth in the Bundesliga this season, and have been demoted to the Europa League, where they face a tough tie against Napoli.

“For Keita, the challenge has almost gone, and he ideally wants to move to Liverpool now.

“The player doesn’t intend to rock the boat hugely in Leipzig, and is relishing the winter break in Germany, but his camp is expected to push for a move upon his return to training in January.”

Naby Keita’s move to Liverpool has already been agreed

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was desperate to rope in Keita during the summer transfer window but he was left disappointed when Leipzig said that their star player will not be allowed to leave.

The Reds bosses wanted to secure Keita’s services over the summer and tried to force an immediate sale but saw their £57m and £66m bids rejected by the Bundesliga club.

The Premier League club was so desperate to rope in the Guinean that they agreed on a deal that would see the player join them a year later.

Keita had a release clause of £48million on his current contract but the German club secured an additional premium – taking the total transfer fee beyond £50m – which the highest amount that the Reds have ever splurged to sign a player.
