Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to rope in Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann and wants them to join Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United.
Manchester United have struggled in front of goal this season and has depended too much on Zlatan for an escape route.
Zlatan has played a pivotal role for the Red Devils after joining on a free transfer from Ligue 1 giants PSG last summer. Mourinho has also been left frustrated as Man Utd stars have failed to find the net consistently.
Zlatan already has 17 Premier League goals to his name this season and has scored 28 in all competitions for Man Utd, who are struggling to finish in top four after having drawn 12 games and nine of them at Old Trafford.
But they clinched a crucial 3-0 win over bottom of the pile club Sunderland – thanks to goals form Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and Rashford.
And now ‘The Special One’ is now set to launch a whooping £160million bid for the striking duo as club legend Wayne Rooney is set to leave the club.
The Portuguese manager now wants Zlatan to take the position of a godfather like figure at Old Trafford – and wants the former PSG man to extend his contract by one more year on a £10m deal.
Mourinho is now set for a crucial clash against his former side Chelsea on Sunday and the former Real Madrid manager is well aware that he needs more firepower upfront to clinch the Premier League title next season and to turn Man Utd into Champions League contenders again.
Mourinho has been monitoring Griezmann’s availability for months now and he is no mood to give up.
And he has told the Man Utd hierarchy that he is fond of the French superstar and has urged the board to even match Paul Pogba’s world record transfer fee of £89m in bid to land the Atletico Madrid star at Old Trafford.
But he is also desperate to secure the signatures of Lukaku from Everton and keep him out of Chelsea’s reach – with Spanish striker Diego Costa se to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Former Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku is now set to part ways with Everton after he reversed his decision to sign a new deal at Goodison Park.
The Belgian superstar has refused to sign a new £130,000-a-week contract with the Toffees as he is aware that he can pocket more cash elsewhere.
And now he is under the radar of top-notch European clubs, who are keen on securing his services in the summer.
Foottheball sources have revealed that Everton would set an asking price of £70million for their key player and they know that only few could clubs could splurge the cash.
And it is believed that Lukaku features in Manchester United’s wish list for the summer as Mourinho has prior experience of coaching him at Chelsea but had also played a major role in the Belgian’s switch from Stamford Bridge to Everton.
Manchester United have heavily depended upon the shoulders of the towering Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic this season and now the club hierarchy is desperately searching the market to rope in a striker in the summer.
Mourinho now wants to bring back Lukaku as the Belgian striker is eager to return back to Champions League – and ‘The Special One’ likes this in him. And the former Chelsea man would also have a chance to double the £120,000 per week wage packet that Everton have offered him.
Wayne Rooney is also set to leave amid huge interest from Premier League and cash-rich Chinese Super League clubs and Mourinho will be left short of attacking power.
Rooney is understood to be ready to accept what Everton can pay him – almost certainly the club record figure that Lukaku has rejected.
And it is believed that Rooney is on the brink to make a switch to his boyhood club Everton – where he can take home what the Toffes are eager to offer Lukaku.
But United would have to come up with a severance package for their captain – at least £20m to cover those last two years of his deal with the Red Devils.
French superstar Antoine Griezmann has now refused to rule out a move away from Atletico Madrid in the summer – but not to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
This will now be a huge boost for Premier League giants Manchester United, who are keen on securing the services of the £86million-rated French striker in the summer.
Man Utd fans would be happy to find one huge hurdle out of the way after it is now believed that Griezmann will not entertain a move to Real Madrid.
Foottheball sources claim that Manchester United are ready to meet Griezmann’s £86million release clause but earlier Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo had accentuatd that the French player will stay put at the Spanish club.
Earlier, last year Griezmann had revealed that he wanted to play alongside Manchester United’s world record signing and his international teammate Paul Pogba.
And now it is only a matter of time that his wish comes true, but it will be interesting to find out whether he decides to stay put at Spanish club or makes a switch to Old Trafford.
