Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has claimed that Lionel Messi can play wherever he wants in the Barcelona line-up.
Messi is usually see playing on the right wing but was played in a more central role in Barcelona’s 5-2 win over Real Sociedad.
The Argentina skipper was on the score-sheet as he scored one and provided two more as he led the charge to take the La Liga champions to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
“Messi can play wherever he wants, in fact in certain matches him coming through the middle has been decisive for us,” said Luis Enrique.
“When Leo has the ball you know you have to make moves because the pass will come.”
Dennis Suarez also scored twice for the hosts, after opening his account for Barcelona in the previous match.
“He played great,” Luis added. “One of his major virtues is his ability to penetrate from the second line and his presence in the penalty area.”
On Barcelona dominating the match Enrique said that Sociedad were great and made Barca work for the win.
“We had to start quickly and when you are faced with their pressure and the players they have, we knew it would be tough but they had to take risks and we solved the problems they created well, however they made our whole match complicated,” he said.
Even though it’s just semi’s but Luis Enrique already has his dream final on his mind.
“I’d like to see a Barca–Celta final,” the Spaniard said.
