Robert Lewandowski’s agent has claimed that the star turned down a world record move to China.
The Bayern Munich star has made a name for himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the world.
Lewandowski was offered more than what Carlos Tevez (£34m) is earning in China but the Poland international declined the move his agent Cezary Kucharski claimed.
The 28-year-old instead chose to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich that will extend his stay at the Allianz Arena to June 2021.
“I was contacted by an agent who brings stars to China,” Kucharski said. “The club name wasn’t mentioned.”
“If Lewy had decided to move to China, his salary would have been significantly higher than €40m, which means more than Carlos Tevez earns.”
Any move would have costed the unknown Chinese club around £172m but the Poland captain decided not to go for the money.
“It’s obvious: Lewy is not only younger but also a better player than Tevez.”
However, Kucharski did not rule out any future move away from Bayern Munich for Lewandowski.
“Robert is not for sale right now,” Kucharski added, “but I never say never. Life offers several solutions.”
The 28-year-old Polish star has scored 12 goals in 16 appreances for the Bavarian giants this season.
