Bayern Munich have opened talks with Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez as they attempt to lure the Gunners winger to the Allianz Arena.
Sanchez has been in amazing form for Arsenal this season and the Chilean is leading the Emirates Stadium’s scoring charts with his brilliant finishing.
However, Alexis will enter the final 12 months in his contract at the end of this season, and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that contract extension talks have been put on hold until summer to focus on Arsenal’s domestic campaign.
Wenger will be forced to sell the 28-year-old if no new deal is agreed in the summer, and Bayern are looking to capitalise on Arsenal’s weakness as they attempt to sign the star striker.
Sanchez has been involved in a contract tussle with the club for almost a year now, with neither side willing to budge on their stance – while Wenger’s future is also a major factor in whether the Chile international decides to sign a new contract.
Bayern are also in the middle of a disappointing campaign, having been knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in the quarter finals, while fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund kicked them out of the DFB Pokal.
The Bavarian giants are on the lookout for reinforcements and have identified Sanchez as the man that can give the ageing squad the required boost they want.
Bayern Munich have held talks with the player’s representative, though former Gunners winger Serge Gnabry has been targeted as a potential back-up signing.
