Current Premier League leaders Chelsea will have to splurge £70million if they want to rope in the services of Borussia Dortmund superstar striker Marco Reus, according to Foottheball sources.
The German superstar has already proved his mettle at Borussia Dortmund previously under former boss Jurgen Klopp and now under Tuchel. His clinical finishing abilities up front have now attracted the attention of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Reus brings immaculate pace into the game and operates on the left in a 4-3-3 formation at Borussia Dortmund but can also play through the middle.
He has struggled in the last few seasons due to a series of injuries but had revived his form this season with six goals to his name in 14 appearances. The German superstar was out of action and made a comeback in November after a groin injury, which also saw him miss the European Championships in France last summer.
Chelsea are now keen on securing the services of Borussia Dortmund forward after Diego Costa has been linked again with a mega-money money offer from the Chinese Super League and Conte is also eyeing to offload Belgian striker Batshuayi in the summer – only a season after roping him in.
And even if Chelsea do not lose any of their main strikers in the summer, they are now eyeing to make some big signings in the summer.
The Blues are currently at top of the Premier League table – 7 point ahead of Spurs and with a game in hand. It is believed that they are edging closer to clinch a second title in three seasons and the Chelsea hierarchy are keen on adding more reinforcements, keeping in mind European football next season.
It is believed that the Blues have now identified a number of strikers and Marco Reus top the list.
However, Chelsea could now face a huge blow in their Marco Reus pursuit after the German forward picked another fresh injury.
And Foottheball sources also claim that the Bundesliga club have set an asking price of £70m for Marco Reus.
Conte has found the perfect balance after taking charge at Stamford Bridge with his new 3-4-3 formation – with Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Pedro already proving their mettle up front. However last season’s club player of the year Willian has found himself at the bench despite showing sparks of brilliance and now there are doubts about how Conte would use Reus – with all his existing forwards performing their duties perfectly.
Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 club Marseille during the last summer transfer window for a transfer fee of £33million but has failed to match the standards at Stamford Bridge and did not earn a single start under Antonio Conte in the Premier League.
Batshuayi did not play a part in their title charge and lacked game time under the Italian manager. And it is believed that the Belgian striker would be a regular figure in the first-team if he had joined the Hammers last summer.
And now it seems Roman Abramovich would not be willing to rope in a player with previous record serious injuries.
Reus suffered another injury and he limped off during thier 6-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen and this has now become an usual sight for the Dortmund fans and will not be available for their Champions League clash with Benfica.
Conte has now identified Torino striker Andrea Belotti as one of their main transfer target for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Chelsea are also eyeing other attacking options – including Belgian playmaker Charly Musonda and talented striker Tammy Abraham.
