Atletico Madrid Put Pressure On Chelsea Over Diego Costa

Atletico Madrid are looking o put pressure on Chelsea to get Diego Costa back at the club.

The Spaniard joined the Premier League champions from the Madrid based outfit in 2014 and has since won two league titles with the Blues.

However, Diego Simeone’s men face a huge transfer ban issue in the summer as they look to overturn the embargo.

The 28-year-old recently revealed that he is no longer keen on China move – adding that he will nit look to force a move away from the club.

Although he did add that if he were to move from West London, it will only be for Atleti.

The Spanish side are facing a trooubling situation due to the ban and are hoping to overturn the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Chelsea have also threatened to sue Atleti for their aggressive pursuit of their talisman last summer, which could further hamper the Rojiblancos’ chances of signing the star man.

Costa still has a close bond with his former boss, having failed to completely settle in London despite being in the English capital for over three years.

“I will only leave Chelsea for Atletico,” Costa said. “If not, I will stay here. I’m not interested in other clubs. I have a contract and no intention of leaving, but if there are changes to be made that might reduce my chance.”

“If the coach won’t count on me anymore or is to give space for another striker, I know that I’ll have to leave. Everyone know what my preferred club is, there’s nothing to hide.”

Atleti are very close to signing Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, with Kevin Gameiro the likely casualty.

For their part, Chelsea are unlikely to receive as much from Atleti as they were expecting to from Tianjin Quanjian, who no longer look well positioned to pull off a deal for Diego Costa.
