Arsenal want Raheem Sterling from Manchester City in any deal for contract rebel Alexis Sanchez in January, according to reports.
Sanchez’s current contract with Arsenal will run out at the end of the season and the Gunners bosses believe that Man City will make another offer for the Chilean in January, having failed to rope him in on transfer deadline day this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal want Raheem Sterling to be included in any deal for the former Barcelona star during the January transfer window.
During the summer transfer window the Gunners had asked for Sterling before Pep Gaurdiola made it clear that they do not want to part ways with the England star.
But reports claim that Arsene Wenger is still interested in bringing Sterling to the Emirates.
Arsenal is not in a strong position to bargain as Sanchez will have only six months remaining on his current contract with the Gunners in January.
And it is understood that Man City would not be willing to sanction Sterling’s departure, especially after his incredible form so far this season.
Sterling has 10 goals and three assists to his name in 15 appearances for Manchester City this season.
But Man City have a plethora of attacking options and this has seen Sterling earning only six Premier League games so far this season – and the England star could be tempeted to make a switch to North London in search for regular game-time.
Speaking about a move for Sanchez in January, Guardiola said earlier this month: “The transfer window is closed, so it’s not time to talk about that.
“I have respect for Arsenal and especially for my own players.
“On Alexis, you know my opinion, but he’s an Arsenal player – so it’s not correct to talk about that – especially before we play them.
“He is an Arsenal player. We have to analyse how to control him because he is such an important player for them, the huge talent that he has.”
