Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to steal Alexis Sanchez from under the noses of Manchester City.
Mourinho reportedly wants to launch an offer of £25million to rope in Arsenal contract rebel Sanchez, who will be out of contract next summer.
The Chilean cannot put pen to paper on an official pre-contract with Man Utd until the January as it is an internal transfer between two Premier League clubs.
But Sanchez could agree personal terms with Man Utd for the deal to go through smoothly during the January transfer window or next summer.
Man City were on the verge of signing Sanchez but Arsenal turned down their £60m bid on deadline day as the Gunners failed to land Monaco star Thomas Lemar, who opted to stay put at the Ligue 1 club.
The Chilean forward was keen to make a switch to Pep Guardiola’s Man City but his representatives had also alerted Manchester United at that time.
Many pundits and City fans were a bit surprised when Guardiola went for Sanchez during the summer transfer window – as it would mean dropping the axe on either Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus.
The City duo have developed a blockbuster partnership this season, which suggests that Man City bosses would give a second thought on whether they still want to continue their pursuit of Sanchez.
It would put Mourinho in pole position to sign Sanchez and the Gunners would have no other option but to let the Chilean join arch rivals Man Utd as Arsenal have failed to convince the former Barca player to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
Sanchez was gain in the headlines at the weekend during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
He was filmed smirking after Alexandre Lacazette missed an open goal at Stamford Bridge.
It seems that he is determined to leave Arsenal having already said on numerous occasions that he wants to play in the Champions League.
