Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said in a statement that avoiding the two nations from playing each-other if both the teams win the group stages in the 2016 EUROs will not be considered.
“No one will isolate the groups. There will be no governmental issues included,” Mutko said on Tuesday, reports Tass.
Russia is drawn in Group B and will play against England, Slovakia and Wales, while Ukraine will face Germany, Poland and Northern Ireland in Group C.
The EUROs will be played in France and will be played for a month from 10th June to 10th July.
“Russian football has never experienced any problems with doping. Up to 2,000 samples were taken a year. FC CSKA was tested at the preliminary stage along with other leader clubs and there were no problems. Football players of our national team were also tested in March in France and everything was all right. I hope that there will also be no problems at the Euro Cup,” the sports minister said.
The Russian minister is also confident about his national team keeping safe from doping scandals.
Russia will face Switzerland, Czech Republic and Austria in preparatory friendlies for the EUROs.
Russian team is expected to arrive in France by 5th June.
