Pressure is building up at the London Stadium as West Ham hierarchy continue to discuss under-fire manager Slaven Bilic’s future.
The Hammers have identified Rafa Benitez as the man who could succeed Bilic at the helms of the club.
Slaven Bilic has been under-fire after terrible start to the season which has seen West Ham land in the relegation zone.
The East Enders were just short of qualifying for Champions League last season but ever-since they moved to the London Stadium from Upton Park the team have been struggling to adjust.
The club have till now been patient with Bilic but are prepared for the worst and will put the axe if he can not turn things around.
West Ham are set to face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday after which they will face Hull City and Burnley next week – two fixtures that will decide Bilic’s future.
Meanwhile, Rafa Benitez has been instrumental in the resurgence of Newcastle United in the Championship.
The Spaniard has put confidence back at St James Park and is looking all set to bring the Toons back to the Premier League next season.
Newcastle United are top of the Championship table with 43 points in 20 games – winning 14 matches.
The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss has been impressive during his stay in the North-East and has made Newcastle a dominant force in the Championship.
The Magpies are clear favorites for the Championship title and look set for a return to the Premier League under the Champions League winning manager if he is not tempted away by West Ham.
