Mauricio Pochettino’s Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are all geared up to hijack Borussia Dortmund’s anticipated bid for their former star Mario Gotze, with Bayern Munich willing to sell the German midfielder this summer.
According to foottheball sources Tottenham are keen on roping in Gotze to bolster their midfield before the upcoming Premier League season and Pochettino is all set to launch a tempting bid to prevent Gotze from resigning with his former club Dortmund.
Mauricio Pochettino is also on the brink of signing AZ striker Vincent Janssen for €22 million and it is believed that an attacking midfielder is next on his wishlist this summer.
It is believed that the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich would look to sell the 24-year-old midfielder as he failed to recreate his Dortmund form since moving to Allianz Arena in 2013.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had earlier revealed this summer: “We made everything clear to Mario. He knows what the club thinks and he knows what the future coach thinks.”
“Mario has to consider for himself whether he wants to constantly get minutes,” he added.
Reports confirm that Dortmund are keen on placing a bid for their 24-year-old prodigal son Gotze, following the departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United.
However, earlier last week, club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke was unwilling to promise a possible return for Gotze: “Until there is a new development, we do not deal with this issue.”
Dortmund has been in the hunt for fresh talents this summer, after failing to hold on to their star players in the past two seasons and Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed that the club will make all efforts to revamp the squad.
“It is clear we will do something,” said club chief Hans-Joachim Watzke.
Meanwhile Liverpool has also been linked with Gotze and sources confirm that Klopp would like to reunite with the former Borussia Dortmund player this summer.
However, Liverpool have recently signed Sadio Mane from Southampton for £30million and it seems unlikely that the Reds could afford to splurge more cash for Gotze with performers like Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho already in the squad.
