Has Matt Damon quit the field of acting to try his skills at football? Well, that’s a million dollar question raised in every football fan’s mind when a picture of the star posing with the jersey of club Atletico Madrid surfaced on the internet.
In the season of transfers, anyone who holds a jersey of the other team is misinterpreted as the new entry to the club. However, that’s not true for all cases. Recently, Hollywood invaded the space of football but to promote an action thriller, not to become the fresh face of the club.
Recently, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo and former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis posed with the actor at a promotional event taking place in Madrid. ‘Jason Bourne’ Actor Matt Damon sported a red and white jersey of team Atletico Madrid. The picture went viral with many speculating the reason for the upload. However, it was later learnt that the President of the club also happened to be the Film producer. Hence, it was a publicity gimmick to generate awareness about the film.
With this, all the rumors were laid to rest. It was rather disclosed during the event that the star was visiting the field to promote his upcoming installment of the Bourne series ‘Jason Bourne’. As a part of the deal, the 45 year old actor was gifted with the jersey which bore his name at the back along with a match ball from the last season. This was already planned by the Film Distributor, Columbia, and the Club had already signed a deal. Hence, their latest movie was entitled to promotions by the football stars.

At the promotional event, Atletico Madrid President Cerezo and Actor Matt Damon shared a light moment. While the star spoke about his limited yet existent knowledge about the club Atletico Madrid, the President mocked about Damon’s entry into the club as a summer fresher.

The promotional event took place to promote the latest installment of ‘Bourne’ series ‘Jason Bourne that is scheduled to release on 29th July 2016 in theatres all around the globe.
