Marouane Fellaini is on the brink of rejecting a reunion with David Moyes, as it is believed that the Belgium midfielder is set to snub a move to Sunderland and will stay at Manchester United this summer.
Fellaini had arrived at Old Trafford under David Moyes, back in the year 2013 and since then he has divided fan opinion, some in favour and some criticising the midfielder’s inconsistency in the last three seasons.
Fellaini has been highly linked with a summer move to Sunderland as former Man Utd boss David Moyes wanted to make immediate reinforcements in the midfield by adding the 28-year-old midfielder in the squad.
However recent reports confirm that Fellaini has revealed that he wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for a place in Mourinho’s revamped Man Utd squad.
After Moyes left Old Trafford in 2014, Fellaini was used more as a rotational player under Van Gall and has drawn a lot of criticism from Man Utd fans for failing to match the standards at Old Trafford.
After taking charge at Man Utd, Mourinho has already been busy in rebuilding the squad and has already axed nine players, which includes – Schweinsteiger, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Andreas Pereira, James Wilson, Adnan Januzaj, Will Keane, Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair.
The fact that Mourinho has not named Fellaini in his unwanted list, hints that he might use Fellaini in the upcoming season. Fellaini is a versatile player and it is believed that his ability to play as both an attacking and defensive midfielder, might have convinced Mourinho to include him in the plan for the upcoming season.
