New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been busy this summer as he looks to refurbish the squad before the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Mourinho has made an immediate impact after signing Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with reports claiming that he is still on the hunt for a top-notch central midfielder.
Despite Mourinho’s interest in Paul Pogba, Manchester United has been linked with £50m rated Germany midfielder Julian Draxler, even after rumours confirm interests from Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus.
Julian Draxler has been under the radar of top European clubs after his impressive performance for Germany at Euro 2016 in France. Reports claim that all three Premier league clubs – Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United along with Serie A side Juventus are keen on securing the signature of the 22-year-old midfielder, but Wolfsburg are not willing to sell.
Earlier last month, reports linked Draxler with a possible move to Old Trafford if Manchester United failed to rope in Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund.
Foottheball understands that Manchester United are in search of a talented central-midfielder and with Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi in line, it seems unlikely that the Red Devils would still look to offer Draxler a place in the squad with Mkhitaryan already confirming his move to join Mourinho this summer.
Liverpool have already splurged a whooping £30m for signing Sadio Mane from Southampton and it is believed that the fee can potentially go up to £38m. Draxler’s current market value is believed to be in the region of £50m and after the recent turn of events it seems unlikely that Liverpool would shell out further cash and break their transfer record to include Draxler in the squad this summer.
A move to the Gunners also seems implausible as they already have a strong setup in the midfield. After recently signing Granit Xhaka and with big names like Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla and Chamberlain in the midfield, it seems unlikely that Arsenal would look to break the club transfer record for another midfielder this summer.
Critics believe that Draxler can land up in Juventus this summer, only if the Serie A club sells Pogba, who is highly linked with a potential summer move to either Manchester United or Real Madrid.
