Riyad Mahrez is currently topping the fans poll chart after being nominated for Ballon d’Or. The Algerian international star is leading the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
French media outlet France Football, who run the Ballon d’Or, conducted the poll with more than 2,000,000 votes already casted in favor of last season’s PFA player of the year.
Mahrez has grabbed about 39 percent of the total votes which clearly suggest that the fans are backing the play-maker to their best.
Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, City’s Aguero and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris have also made the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, which means Golden Ball.
Maybe the world is tired of watching Ronaldo-Messi dominate the award proceedings for the past 5 years and want to recognize a new star in the making.
