Manchester City’s out-on-loan winger Patrick Roberts has been very vocal about his admiration of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
The England U-19 star has often stated that he bases his game around Lionel Messi’s style.
The five-time Ballon d’Or has now backed the youngster as he aims to be the world’s best like his idol.
Team Messi shared a short clip on Twitter captioned “Backed By Messi, First Never Follows”.
Roberts is currently on loan an Celtic and faced his idol Messi last month when Barca smashed the Scottish champions in the Champions League group stage match.
However, that hasn’t affected the 19-year-old as he is reported to have told Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola that he can be a new version of Messi for Pep.
Interestingly it was during Pep’s reign at Barcelona that Messi became a first-team regular and started his world-domination.
While, Roberts is still far off from being the best in the world, he has caught the eye of the best and will be hoping to not let his idol down.
