Breaking records that stood for nearly half a century, Robert Lewandowski’s rise to the top of world football has been nothing short of inspiring. A touch of gold and breathtakingly good finishes has been the trademark for the Polish international.
Lewandowski has firmly established himself as one of the best goalscorers the Bundesliga and the world have ever witnessed. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Amazon Prime Video is making a documentary on the coveted striker.

“We want to tell a story of ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses unfiltered – to present the events as they really happened,” said Lewandowski.
Lewandowski managed an astounding 41 goals in the Bundesliga last season, breaking Gerd Muller’s record that stood strong for 49 years. The tally could have been even greater if Muller had not been troubled by injury during the season.

Lewandowski had received the FIFA Men’s Best Player award last year and continued his excellent form into the year. Averaging at least a goal every ninety, Lewandowski became Europe’s top scorer last season. An excellent goal poacher who can single handily turn the fate of any game. His absence dealt a huge blow to Bayern last season, bowing out to PSG in the quarter-finals.
Unfortunately, Lewandowski was denied the chance of winning the Ballon d’Or last year due to the covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this year’s ceremony set to be held on the 5th of December will crown two Champions (ie, last year’s and this year’s) according to French publication L’Equipe. Lewandowski might finally get his hands on the most sought after individual award in the history of the game, a prize he truly deserves.
THE TRADITIONAL NUMBER 9 – RL9
The Bundesliga player of the season has been racking up goals for the past couple of seasons. His exuberance and guile have been too hot to handle for any opposition he faces. Adept with either foot combined with excellent heading accuracy, Lewandowski is an ideal traditional centre-forward. A player who can ward off challenges and find the net even in the tightest of angles.
HE’S DONE IT! 🥳

A predatory number 9 whose intelligent movements of the ball usually place him in ideal goal scoring positions. Be it a tap-in, or a half-volley, Lewandowski rarely fails to find the net. But, limiting him to just a goal scorer does not do the player justice.
Lewandowski’s excellent close control and positional awareness is an asset to the team as a whole. With his back to goal, the Polish international can draw players close to him to create space behind the defence. If he isn’t closed down, a ferocious strike is usually unleashed that often finds the back of the net. There’s no time to blink when RL9 is in the box, if you do, you probably already lost.
Amazon Prime and Lewandowski wants to portray the life and career of the goalscoring genius. At age 32, having won the historic sextuple with Bayern last year, Lewandowski is at the highest point in his professional football career. This is an ideal time to showcase the individual behind the glory.
LEWANDOWSKI AND AMAZON PRIME DOCUMENTARY
Born to Polish Judo Champion Krzysztof and Volleyball player Iwona, Lewandowski was raised in Poland. After excelling in Poland’s second and third tier with Znicz Pruszków, he moved to Lech Poznań in Poland’s first tier. In 2010, the young striker was picked up by Borussia Dortmund where he played four years before eventually moving to Bayern Munich.
Winning two Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund and becoming the league’s top scorer, Lewandowski had already established himself as one of the best finishers of the game. In Bayern Munich, he won the Bundesliga in every season he featured. In 2019-20, he became the only player apart from Johan Cruyff to win the treble while becoming the top scorer in each competition.
Robert Lewandowski is the first player to be named Footballer of the Year in Germany in back-to-back seasons since Michael Ballack in 2003.

Lewandowski is also the Bundesliga’s all-time foreign top scorer and second ever, only behind Gerd Muller. Unsurprisingly, Lewandowski is also Poland’s captain, leading the team from the frontlines. In his 122 appearances for the national side, the Polish international has scored 69 goals. Lewandowski was also voted as Footballer of the Year in Germany for two seasons running.
“The fact that Robert has now won this special award for the second time in a row is evidence of his tremendous quality and his unbelievable hunger. I’m sure this accolade will give Robert even more drive and motivation.” – Oliver Khan, when Lewandowski won the Footballer of The Year 2021
A STORY WORTH WATCHING
It is Lewandowski and Amazon Prime’s aim to depict the life of the coveted striker without any “beautification”. Lewandowski wants the film to showcase the minor details that enabled him to reach the top. To help inspire other young people to reach success by showcasing the struggles the Bayern striker endured before his stardom.

Amazon Prime has already featured several films related to footballing superstars including Sergio Ramos’s latest documentary. The documentary about Lewandowski will also utilize several aspects of the All or Nothing series released by Amazon, thus making it more intriguing.
“I would like this document to become an inspiration for kids who dream of achieving something great, but do not fully believe in themselves.” -Lewandowski on the documentary
