Belgian winger Eden Hazard could be side-lined for the start of Chelsea’s defence after breaking his ankle during international duty.
The Chelsea man will require surgery and could be out for up to 3 months. The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Sunday’s training session at the National Football Centre in Tubize. No other player was said to be involved in the incident.
And news of the injury will no doubt put hold to his hopes of leaving Stamford Bridge.
Hazard hinted he would be open to a move to Real Madrid when he said: “Of course, that’s all. We all dream. Of course, I would consider it if Madrid made an offer. I am keen to win trophies.
“It would be great to win the Champions League. But Chelsea’s goal is to win the Champions League as well.
“Honestly, I do not know what will happen. I only know that I still have a contract with Chelsea for three seasons and that we just had an amazing campaign. We want to continue on this path and want to build on this in the Champions League.
“I am feeling very well at Chelsea. But you never know what will happen.”
Hazard produced his best return in a Premier League campaign last season when his 16 goals fired the Blues to the title last term.
Will the likes of Chelsea be able to survive without their main man for the start of next season? Will he move to Real Madrid amid the transfer rumours? The questions still remain unanswered…
