FIFA has announced that the bidding process for hosting the 2026 World Cup has been suspended.
Bidding will not take place for as long as the corruption allegations are not cleared.
Amidst the allegations of corruption in the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup, the FBI is investigating the process and rumors are circulating that Qatar could be stripped of the 2022 tournament.
England has openly announced that it is ready to host the tournament.

FIFA needs reform to avoid an image of a corrupt organization, and the World Cup should be protected regardless of the probes by U.S. and Swiss investigators, Jerome Valcke, FIFA’s secretary general told reporters in Samara, Russia, on Wednesday.

There were no major violations in Russia’s winning bid to host the 2018 competition, he said.
