EURO 2016 is set to start from next week and some of the biggest names in world football will be representing their countries in Europe’s elite continental tournament.
Yet there are some big-names who will be sitting at home as their countries did not qualify.
11. Samir Handanovic (GK)
The Slovenian international is one of the best goalies in the world, but will not be participating the EUROs as Slovenia crashed out of the qualifying stages.
The Inter Milan goalkeeper is being linked with a move away from the club this summer and he will have a lot of time to evaluate his future.
10. Branislav Ivanovic (RB)
The Chelsea vice-captain had a dreadful season with his club, but is still considered as one of the very best.
But a poor display by Serbia in the qualifying stages means that Ivanovic will be sitting at home this EUROs.
9. Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB)
The Borussia Dortmund defender is a household name in Germany and Greece for his defensive technique.
But Sokratis will be wondering what went wrong for the 2004 EURO winners as they finished last in the qualifying group.
8. Daley Blind (CB)
Netherland international Blind will have the summer to himself to find a potential club for himself as rumors of new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho deeming him surplus to requirements grow.
7. Aleksandar Kolarov (LB)
Another Premier League star who didn’t make it to the EUROs is Manchester City left back Aleksandar Kolarov.
The Serbian international will be a worried man this summer after losing his first-team spot to Gael Clichy.
6. Miralem Pjanic (CM)
One of Europe’s brightest young talent, Miralem Pjanic will be sitting at home this summer, evaluating his future as Chelsea look to seal his signature.
The Roma star will be disappointed as his Bosnia & Herzegovina team crashed out after defeat at the hands of Republic of Ireland.
5. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (CM)
The Borussia Dortmund star is the only known face in the relatively unknown Armenian side.
Mkhitaryan has been rejecting Dortmunds offer for a new contract, maybe they can sort it out in the summer.
4. Arjen Robben (AMR)
A star-studded Netherlands side crashed out of the EUROs after a dismal campaign during the qualifying stages.
Robben’s season was further hit hard when he missed out on the Champions League season due to an injury as Bayern Munich crashed out of the competition.
3. Christian Eriksen (AML)
The Danish play-maker had an outstanding season with Tottenham, as the Spurs just missed out on their first Premier League title.
Eriksen could very well be playing the EUROs if not for a player named Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
2. Stevan Jovetic (STR)
Another Inter Milan player who will be watching the EUROs from home is Steven Jovetic.
The Montenegro attacker tried all he could but his side still finished last in the group.
1. Eden Dzeko (STR)
The former Manchester City star now plays for AS Roma and is still is one of the very best in the world.
But the Bosnia & Herzegovina international will not be having a busy summer as he will be watching the EUROs from home.
