Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has now failed to score in 523 minutes of Champions League football which is his longest drought in the competition.
Ronaldo has scored just twice in this season’s Champions League and that too coming in the first two group stage games.
Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Napoli last night and has now gone over 500 minutes without finding the net in Europe’s elite competition.
Though the Portuguese star has recorded 5 assists so far in the competition which is his highest tally for the Los Blancos.
He provided one to teammate Toni Kroos last night and will be desperate to get on the score-sheet when Real Madrid travel to Italy for the second leg on 7th March.
It seems that Cristiano Ronaldo as adjusted to a new role at the Santiago Bernabeu as he beat his man and worked up his way into the penalty area before expertly passing the ball to Kroos who dispatched his shot into the bottom corner.
Meanwhile, Karim Benzema scored a thumping header to climb 5th in the all time Champions League scorers list, leapfrogging French compatriot Thierry Henry.
Lionel Messi is second in the list on 93 goals with former Real striker Raul third with 71 strikes. Ex-Manchester United front man Ruud van Nistelrooy is fourth with 56.
