Five-time FIFA world player of the year Marta has joined US National Women’s Soccer League club Orlando Pride on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old Brazilian arrived on a free transfer, having parted ways with Sweden’s Rosengard earlier this year.
“We are incredibly proud to bring Marta to Orlando, and I am personally very excited as I have been a fan of her for many years,” Pride CEO Alex Leitao said in a statement. “Our technical team worked hard to add the best, most accomplished women’s soccer player in the world to the roster.
Brazil’s 2007 FIFA men’s world player of the year Kaka, who plays for Pride’s sister club Orlando City, congratulated his compatriot on the move.
“Welcome to the Orlando City family,”the former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of the pair.
