Brazil club Chapecoense’s plane has crashed in Colombia. The flight was carrying the Chapecoense side to the final of the Copa Sudamericana, where the side were set to face Colombians Atletico Nacional on Wednesday. The crash site of the chartered plane is in a mountainous area outside the Colombian city of Medellin, where the finals were slated to take place. The British Aerospace 146 short-haul aircraft is operated by LAMIA and crashed at around 10.15 pm local time in Cerro Gordo, La Union. It was the same flight company who flew the Argentina team with Lionel Messi on board for their last match in Brazil.

Britain sending investigators to assist with crash probe
Britain’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch is deploying a team of investigators to help with the probe into the plane crash.
The AAIB said in a statement: “The Colombian Accident Investigation Authority has requested the assistance of the UK AAIB and BAe Systems (the aircraft manufacturer).
“In accordance with ICAO Annex 13 protocols, the AAIB is deploying a team of three accident investigators specialising in operations, engineering and flight data recorders to the accident site.

51 bodies recovered from site of plane crash
According to rescue officials in Colombia a total of 51 bodies have been found from the crash site.

Opponents request CONMEBOL to declare Chapecoense champions
Players of Atletico Nacional, the Colombian side who were set to lock horns with Chapecoense in the finals of the Copa Sudamericana, has now requested CONMEBOL (the South American Football Confederation) to announce the Brazilian team as the champions for the 2016 tournament.

The picture shows the pilot in charge of the plane that crashed in Colombia. Reports have confirmed that 76 people have died so far.
Pilot in-charge Miquel Quiroga was flying the Lamia plane when it crashed due to electrical failures – with Brazilian football team Chapecoense onboard.
Known by his nickname Miky – the pilot has been hailed as a hero after reports claim that he single-handedly dumped fuel in the plane just seconds before it crashed. His smart move prevented a massive explosion and more deaths.
7 people has been rescued out of which 1 died on the way to hospital. And reports also suggest that the pilot is dead.

Goalkeeper Danilo passes away
Chapecoense have confirmed that their goalkeeper Danilo has passed away.
Earlier, Danilo was rescued from the plane crash but now he has been confirmed dead – taking the death toll to 76.

Sixth survivor confirmed
Antioquia authorities have now confirmed that a sixth survivor has been rescued from the plane
31-year-old footballer, Hermito Zampier has been rescued.
Earlier, it was thought there were only 5 survivors. At first it was reported that six people were rescued from the crash.

Reports suggest that the team were supposed to board another plane and not the one that crashed.

According to reports 25 people have died in the plane crash. 15 are reported to be injured. Reports also claim that eight people have survived. Out of the survivors, only four has been named so far – defender Alan Ruschel, goalkeeper Danilo and air stewardess Ximena Suárez and another goalkeeper Jakson Follmann.

CONMEBOL have officially suspended all footballing action after the plane carrying Brazilian football team Chapecoense crashed in Colombia.
CONMEBOL asserted that all football activity in the region has been suspended until further notice.
The governing body said: “The South American Football Confederation confirms that it has been notified by Colombian authorities that a plane that was carrying the delegation of Brazil Chapecoense Atletico had an accident on its arrival in Colombia.”
“We are in contact with the authorities and awaiting official progress. CONMEBOL greatly regrets what happened.”

Another Player Is Confirmed To Have Survived. Jackson Follman, the goalkeeper of Chapecoense, has been recovered from the crash site from fire-fighters.
Brazilian news site SporTV confirmed that another goalkeeper Jakson Follmann has survived the plane crash – the third player and the fourth person named till now.
