Barcelona have finally revealed when Luis Enrique’s successor will be announced.
The Catalan giants will announce their next head coach on May 29, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed.
Enrique managed his last home game as Barca boss on Sunday in a 4-2 win over Eibar as Real Madrid dethroned Barca to clinch the La Liga title.
However, Luis Enrique will be in-charge as Barca face Alaves in the Copa del Rey final next weekend.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde is being touted as the potential successor.
“On Monday 29 May we will announce the new coach,” Bartomeu told Barca TV .
“We thank Luis Enrique for the effort he has put in [and] the demands he placed on himself. The door is open. Now we have the Copa.”
Bartomeu also went ahead and congratulated Real for their stunning title win as he said: “Obviously we congratulate the champions and our players for the season they have put in,” he said.
He also insisted that Lionel Messi – whose 2 goals took him to 37 in the league this season – would remain at the club as he won the Pichichi Trophy.
He added: “There’s no doubt that the marriage between Messi and Barca will continue.”
