Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone’s son hinted that his father could say no to Arsenal and join Serie A side Inter Milan as their new manager.
After guiding Atletico Madrid to two Champions League final clashes and winning the La Liga title for them in 2014, Diego Simeone has been under the radar of top-flight clubs.
And his son who has displayed good form at Serie A side Genoa this season, believes that Diego Simeone could make a return to his former club Inter Milan as their new manager.
When asked whether his father would return to his former club in Italy, he said: “Sooner or later, the time for him to go to Inter will arrive — and I hope this happens.”
“Right now, he is doing well at Atletico and he is happy.”
“But, if at some point in the future, he received a call from Inter, then why not?”
“I would like that.”
Inter have sacked Frank De Boer this season and brought in Stefano Pioli to fill the void with a possibility of handing him out a long-term deal in the next summer.
And according to Corriere dello Sport, Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has already conveyed their interest in Simeone and is keen on roping him as their new manager in the future.
This comes as a huge blow for Arsenal, who have identified Diego Simeone as a potential replacement for Arsene Wenger, if the legendary Gunners man decides to leave next season.
