Arsene Wenger looks to bolster the Aresnal defense and according to recent rumours the legendary manager is believed to have approached incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte to negotiate a deal for French defender Kurt Zouma.
Italian transfer specialist Emanuele Giulianelli sparked the rumour on Twitter, where he wrote – ‘’ Contacts between Wenger and Conte: Arsenal want Zouma from Chelsea.’’
After signing midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, the Gunners manager has set his eyes on the talented defender Kurt Zouma. It is believed that Wenger hopes to set up Zouma as the main defensive pillar to make things rock solid at the back.
However it is believed that Chelsea would be unwilling to negotiate the deal as Zouma is believed to be an important member in the Chelsea and with John Terry agreeing to a more reduced role, Zouma is expected to feature regularly in the first team this upcoming season.
Zouma is recovering from a knee injury that he suffered against Manchester United in February. With a speedy recovery, he is expected to play in the season opener on August 13.
In a recent Instagram post, Zouma wrote – “Step by step… #happy#running#1sttime.” The video shows him undergoing the rehabilitation training.
Reports suggest that Arsene Wenger is also looking forward to approach Everton’s John Stones, Roma’s Kostas Manolas, Napolis’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Juventu’s Leonardo Bonucci this summer.
