Chile have been handed a boost ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Tuesday with news that Alexis Sanchez is set to return to their starting lineup.
Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi said the Arsenal forward had recovered from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss La Roja’s 0-0 draw with Colombia in Barranquilla on Thursday.
“Sanchez was not ready for the game in Colombia, but we knew the injury was a small one and we could have him for this match,” Pizzi told a news conference on Monday.
“It’s not that he hasn’t trained, he’s trained every day, even when we were in Colombia he did a different kind of preparation. Yesterday he took part in full training.”
Chile will also welcome back Inter Milan defender Gary Medel from a two-game suspension while Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has been declared fit after being carried off on a stretcher late in the match against Colombia.
