Mohamed Salah is a Liverpool legend and there’s no denying that. Ever since his debut in 2017, the Egyptian King has set records one after another.
From scoring over 150 goals for Liverpool in all competitions to winning Liverpool’s maiden Premier League title and a Champions League, Salah has come a long way. FootTheBall take a look at Salah’s best records for both Liverpool and Egypt.
Liverpool’s record goalscorer in the Premier League
The Egypt international scored his 128th and 129th top-flight goals for the Reds against Manchester United in a special match where the Red Devils were thrashed 7-0, taking him to the summit as the club’s most prolific player in the division.
Salah moved ahead of Robbie Fowler, who plundered 128 Premier League goals across his two spells at Anfield, with Steven Gerrard (120) in third place. Michael Owen remains in fourth position on the list having netted 118 times in the league, while Sadio Mane’s tally of 90 sits him fifth.

Most goals in a Premier League campaign
Salah netted 32 league goals in 2017-18, beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League season. Salah’s 32 goals in 38 games came with only one hattrick against Watford. Scoring in 24 games out of 38 – another record; the 29-year-old formed a formidable attacking trio alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firminho.
Most consecutive opening-day goals
After scoring against Norwich City in August 2021, he became the first player to score on the opening day of five consecutive Premier League seasons. He is the only player in the Premier League era to score in six consecutive opening-day fixtures. In other words, Salah has scored for Klopp’s side in every single opening game since he joined in the 2017/18 season.

Only opposition player to score a hattrick at Old Trafford
Although it was more about Manchester United’s helplessness rather than Liverpool’s brilliance, Mohamed Salah stole the show at Old Trafford
In October 2021, the forward became the first opposition player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Salah scored the hattrick in just 12-minute intervals spread out between the two halves.
Highest scoring African player in Premier League
Salah has become the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history, overtaking Chelsea legend Didier Drogba in the process.
Not only did he claim the accolade in the 5-0 beating of his side’s arch-rivals Manchester United, but he did it in style. Scoring a hattrick, Salah took his active tally to 107, compared to 104 of the previous record holder Didier Drogba. 105 of those came while playing for Liverpool, and the rest two were from his initial tenure at Chelsea.
While the 2022/23 season has seen a drop in form compared to the standards set by him, there is no doubt that Mohamed Salah is still among the best in the world.
